Flat Currents in the Classical AdS_5 x S^5 Pure Spinor Superstring
It is proven that the classical pure spinor superstring in an AdS_5 x S^5
background has a flat current depending on a continuous parameter. This
generalizes the recent result of Bena, et al. for the classical Green-Schwarz
superstring.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, harvma
Pure Spinor Formalism as an N=2 Topological String
Following suggestions of Nekrasov and Siegel, a non-minimal set of fields are
added to the pure spinor formalism for the superstring. Twisted =3 N=2
generators are then constructed where the pure spinor BRST operator is the
fermionic spin-one generator, and the formalism is interpreted as a critical
topological string. Three applications of this topological string theory
include the super-Poincare covariant computation of multiloop superstring
amplitudes without picture-changing operators, the construction of a cubic open
superstring field theory without contact-term problems, and a new
four-dimensional version of the pure spinor formalism which computes F-terms in
the spacetime action.Comment: 34 pages harvmac te
Note About Classical Dynamics of Pure Spinor String on AdS_5 x S_5 Background
We will discuss some properties of the pure spinor string on the AdS_5 x S_5
background. Using the classical Hamiltonian analysis we will show that the
vertex operator for the massless state that is in the cohomology of the BRST
charges describes on-shell fluctuations around AdS_5 x S_5 background.Comment: 26. pages, added references, v2:corrected typo
The Pure Spinor Formulation of Superstrings
In this lectures we outline the construction of pure spinor superstrings. We
consider both the open and closed pure spinor superstrings in critical and
noncritical dimensions and on flat and curved target spaces with RR flux. We
exhibit the integrability properties of pure spinor superstrings on curved
backgrounds with RR fluxes.Comment: These lectures have been given in the RTN Winter School on Strings,

BRST quantization of the pure spinor superstring
We present a derivation of the scattering amplitude prescription for the pure
spinor superstring from first principles, both in the minimal and non-minimal
formulations, and show that they are equivalent. This is achieved by first
coupling the worldsheet action to topological gravity and then proceeding to
BRST quantize this system. Our analysis includes the introduction of constant
ghosts and associated auxiliary fields needed to gauge fix symmetries
associated with zero modes. All fields introduced in the process of
quantization can be integrated out explicitly, resulting in the prescriptions
for computing scattering amplitudes that have appeared previously in the
literature. The zero mode insertions in the path integral follow from the
integration over the constant auxiliary fields.Comment: 31 page
Pure-spinor superstrings in d=2,4,6
We continue the study of the d=2,4,6 pure-spinor superstring models
introduced in [1]. By explicitly solving the pure-spinor constraint we show
that these theories have vanishing central charge and work out the (covariant)
current algebra for the Lorentz currents. We argue that these super-Poincare
covariant models may be thought of as compactifications of the superstring on
CY_{4,3,2}, and take some steps toward making this precise by constructing a
map to the RNS superstring variables. We also discuss the relation to the so
called hybrid superstrings, which describe the same type of compactifications.Comment: 27 page
BFT embedding of the Green-Schwarz superstring and the pure spinor formalism
We worked out the Batalin-Fradkin-Tyutin (BFT) conversion program of second
class constraints to first class constraints in the GS superstring using light
cone coordinates. By applying this systematic procedure we were able to obtain
a gauge system that is equivalent to the recent model proposed by Berkovits and
Marchioro to relate the GS superstring to the pure spinor formalism.Comment: 12 pages latex2e, v2 typos fixed, v3 published in JHE
Origin of Pure Spinor Superstring
The pure spinor formalism for the superstring, initiated by N. Berkovits, is
derived at the fully quantum level starting from a fundamental
reparametrization invariant and super-Poincare invariant worldsheet action. It
is a simple extension of the Green-Schwarz action with doubled spinor degrees
of freedom with a compensating local supersymmetry on top of the conventional
kappa-symmetry. Equivalence to the Green-Schwarz formalism is manifest from the
outset. The use of free fields in the pure spinor formalism is justified from
the first principle. The basic idea works also for the superparticle in 11
dimensions.Comment: 21 pages, no figure; v2: refs. adde
Free Differential Algebras and Pure Spinor Action in IIB Superstring Sigma Models
In this paper we extend to the case of IIB superstring sigma models the
method proposed in hep-th/10023500 to derive the pure spinor approach for type
IIA sigma models. In particular, starting from the (Free) Differential Algebra
and superspace parametrization of type IIB supergravity, extended to include
the BRST differential and all the ghosts, we derive the BRST transformations of
fields and ghosts as well as the standard pure spinor constraints for the
ghosts related to supersymmetry. Moreover, using the method first
proposed by us, we derive the pure spinor action for type IIB superstrings in
curved supergravity backgrounds (on shell), in full agreement with the action
first obtained by Berkovits and Howe.Comment: 24 page
